IFRS Roadmap Comment Period Extended

February 8, 2009
tags: ,

On February 3 the SEC announced that they will extend the IFRS Roadmap comment period by two months. The IFRS Roadmap was published on November 14, 2008. The comment period was to close February 19, but now the SEC will accept comments on its IFRS Roadmap until April 20.

The rule proposal says that the 60 day extension to the comment period is a response to requests to allow “interested persons additional time to analyze the issues and prepare their comments”. The proposed IFRS Roadmap sets forth milestones that, if achieved, could lead to the required use of IFRS by U.S. issuers by 2014.

Comments may be submitted electronically using the SEC’s comment form or by sending an e-mail to Include File Number S7-27-08 in the subject line; or through the federal rulemaking portal. Paper comments should be submitted in triplicate referencing File Number S7-27-08 to Elizabeth M. Murphy, Secretary, Securities and Exchange Commission, 100 F Street, NE, Washington, DC 20549-1090.
